It was a bad scene...
One of the hard drives (not the CPU as I suspected) decided that it's time had come.
Thanks to Walt & Tom for getting my machine back to working condition again.
RIP Maxtor--you served me well!
Just goes to show you that I really am the luckiest person I know. My data is safe, we had another hard drive in the shop, & the drive that went bad wasn't my primary anyway. Not only that, but it's fixed in less than 24 hours.
I'll get back to regular posting as soon as I get somewhat caught up in my work.
